Our day trip to Satsop was full of fantasmical images and experiences!  We arrived to the Satsop Park on an autumn morning, and the nuclear towers were shrouded in mist.  After a few hours, the sun broke through and lightened up both towers creating an ethereal setting.  As we went into the towers, the vastness of the interiors made us feel small and left us totally mesmerized.   • 496 feet tall, 440 feet across at the base, and 260 feet at the throat, 280 feet at the top
  • 3 feet thick at the extreme top and bottom
  • 15,920 cubic yards of concrete were used to construct the shell
  • 42 miles of large pipe and 35 miles of small pipe
  • 38,000 tons of reinforcing steel and 14,000 tons of structural steel
  • 562-ton reactor vessel measuring 50 feet high and 17 feet across, with steel walls more than 9″ thick

What is Satsop used for today?
