Best Spas in the Maldives
The Maldives is known for its incredible spas which can be found at the resorts. While in paradise, you will want to indulge yourself and check into one of these award-winning spas.
On days when we got too much sun and activity, we retreated to the spa to find some peace and calm. Other times when a tropical rain shower passed through, the spa welcomed us and we fell into utter bliss with our tranquil treatments.
Sharing our list of favorite spas in the Maldives!
Good to note: we will be adding to this list, so be sure to check back for more of our recommendations.
BEST SPAS IN THE MALDIVES
LUX* ME SPA has been awarded the Best Luxury Island Resort Spa in the Maldives at the 2018 Luxury Spa Awards. We walked through a banana leaf lined lane that ends at the blue lagoon where the LUX* Me Spa is located.
Greeted by Sindy, the Wellness and Spa Manager, she introduced us to the 11 garden and 4 over water treatment villas, and noted “LUX* Me Spa Treatments are tailored around four guiding principles: relaxation and stress relief, anti-ageing and rejuvenation, cleansing and detoxifying, weight loss and toning. We have over sixty beautifying and therapeutic products, as well as powerful essential oils created for LUX* by renowned aroma therapist, Shirley Page.”
Recognized for its exceptional service, my therapist guided me to my treatment room. She told me that “The LUX* Me wellness sanctuary has a traditional Chinese teahouse dedicated for brand new signature skin and body care experiences, and a zen wellness pavilion for a range of activities, including yoga and meditation.”
After our treatments, we continued to relax in lounge chairs and sipped ginger tea in a private spa area that overlooks the lagoon and overwater treatment villas. It was LUX* pure bliss!
We rode our bikes from our villa to a remote part of the Anantara Kihavah island and found a haven for serenity! The Spa has 6 over water treatment rooms that overlook the Indian Ocean, each with a private outdoor shower and small pool.

Anantara Kihavah Resident Ayhervdeic specialist, Sharath Ram offers consultations for guest’s wellness journeys. Using the ancient healing power of Ayurveda, a 5,000 yr old natural science with a focus on health and harmony, guests feel renewed and rejuvenated.
We used the steam room, then awaited our treatments on the over water relaxation deck with cold plunge pool.
Our therapists used healing properties from the indigenous plants and fruits on the island. They also incorporated Tibetan Singing Bowls to reconnect the body and mind, balance the chakras before the massage began.
We felt deeply relaxed after our treatments. It was fascinating to learn about the Ayurvedic wisdom of the earth to heal, enrich and replenish our bodies, minds and souls. Anantara Kihavah’s signature wellness journeys are a memorable experience!
The Serenity Spa is a haven nestled in the lush jungle of Baros Island. We crossed under the gate and walked the stepping stones to the reception lounge where we met the team of wellness directors and therapists.
After a refreshing island drink, we meandered down a pathway to our private pavilion, a sanctuary hidden in the trees. Our couples spa treatment suite was palatial with two changing rooms, bath and steam room. Outside there was a private relaxation area in a tropical garden with our own rainfall shower and bathtub.
Serenity Spa brings holistic wellness experiences, and you can choose from a range of deeply soothing therapeutic and beautifying treatments.
Our highly trained therapists offer massages inspired by the ancient wisdoms of Asia and the healing traditions of Africa, from classic Balinese massage to our TheraNaka East African Wood Massage.
Since I had a sunburn on my back, my therapist applied a COOLA Sun Massage that helped ease the burning pain. After our treatments, we relaxed in a private sala room with a hot cup of tea.
Next spa visit, I hope to have the deep cleanse with a Thousand Flowers Detox Wrap by Elemis. Serenity Spa also offers a private yoga session anywhere on the island, or pampering treatments in the seclusion of guest’s villas.
Kuramathi Spa is one of the oldest spas in the Maldives and their facilities are well maintained and look new. They have perfected their level of excellence in Spa Hospitality and Services provided.
Within 5 minutes, we walked barefoot from our over water bungalow to the spa that’s located in the heart of the island. The spa is surrounded by lush vegetation and a walkway that leads to the over water treatment pavilions. There are 13 treatment rooms – couples’ massage water pavilion, 2 couples’ beach pavilion massage and tatami rooms, 1 aesthetic beauty care couples’ room, 1 manicure and couples’ pedicure room, 7 beach side couples’ treatment rooms and 1 private herbal bath treatment room.
Our Kuramathi Spa attendant shared that they “integrate ancient rituals to nourish the body, relax the mind and balance the spirit. We use the finest quality of European beauty products and Far-Eastern natural essential oils, all in great respect to our environment.”
Before our treatment, we had our own wet areas with Rain Showers, Herbal Essence Steam Bath, Finnish Sauna, Cool Dip Pool and Jacuzzi. Then, we relaxed in the open-air Spa Lounge and looked out to the azure waters while sipping our special blended pre-treatment herbal tea.
We followed our therapists on the planked walkway to our overwater bungalow, and surrendered to deep relaxation. It was heavenly.
Good to note: Kuramathi Spa offers a selection of treatments (hair care, body care, foot care) for both men and women.
The sun was setting as we strolled along the beach to the COMO Shambhala Pavilion on COMO Cocoa Island. It was a peaceful evening and the only sounds we heard was the water lapping on the shore and birds singing their last song of the day.

As we walked into the open-air COMO Shambhala Retreat, the wellness director told us that “COMO is famous for the embodiment of a philosophy for healthy living that COMO Shambhala has successfully refined at its award-winning retreats all over the world. The COMO Shambhala experience combines Asian-based therapies, nutrition, exercise and yoga with a results-driven agenda managed by experts in holistic health.”
We were guided to our private couple’s pavilion where our therapists gave us the signature COMO Shambhala Massage, a nurturing treatment with long, soothing strokes.
Next time, I hope to get the Indian Head Massage, Taksu Massage and other wellness treatments.
